Saudi company Bahri said in a statement this morning that its vessel, “Sidr”, was hit while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz late on the night of 31 August, killing two of its crew members.
The Saudi vessel was damaged after it switched off its lights and disabled its tracking systems, following American advice that it would cross safely if it did so.
“Sidr” attempted to cross the Strait of Hormuz in the American manner, thereby violating the instructions and guidance of the “Gulf Passage Management Authority”, an Iranian body responsible for issuing safe-passage permits for vessels crossing the strait, away from dangerous American smuggling routes and methods.
