Saudi Arabian electronic payments company PayTabs has signed an agreement with US company Amazon, under which PayTabs will acquire Amazon’s electronic payments system in the West Asia and North Africa region.
Saudi Arabia paid Amazon $100 million for this “privilege”.
Under the agreement, when you purchase something from Amazon while in an Arab country, the payment details you use on the Amazon website will become accessible to the Saudi government, because you will have carried out the transaction through a fully Saudi payment system.
