The Saudi Foreign Minister arrived in Oman a short while ago on an urgent mission to request Omani intervention and permission for Saudi vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz without the need for Iranian transit procedures and permits.

Saudi Arabia has turned to Oman following the failure of the Chinese mediation.

Saudi Arabia has told the mediators that it does not object to applying for a permit from Iran every time it wishes to transit the Strait of Hormuz, but that its only problem is that it is caught between the United States and Iran. If it follows the transit route announced by Iran, it will encounter problems with the United States; and if it follows the transit route announced by the United States, it will face even greater problems with Iran.

The Saudi economy is suffering from a severe crisis, the cancellation of dozens of projects, and the collapse of hundreds of major companies.
