The British Business and Workers’ Rights organisation said in a detailed report that Saudi Arabia committed serious abuses against Bangladeshi and Nepalese workers who worked on energy projects that it claimed were green and renewable.

Among the abuses documented by the organisation were, for example:

▪️ Charging recruitment fees to prospective workers after luring and deceiving them with the projects’ prestigious reputation.
▪️ Withholding wages from many of them, and paying the rest less than the agreed amount.
▪️ Forcing them to work for more than 14 hours a day.
▪️ Poor nutrition and accommodation.
▪️ Denial of medical treatment.
▪️ Failing to respect workers who died at work sites as a result of modern slavery practices.
