Heavy public pressure in Japan, the United States and other countries led to the cancellation of a paid promotional advertisement by SNK, the games company owned by Mohammed bin Salman.
The international platform Games Done Quick withdrew the Saudi advertisement following protests by hundreds of thousands of members of gaming communities.
The protesting gamers said they would not tolerate promotional advertisements seeking to polish the image of Mohammed bin Salman, whom they accused of violating the rights of Saudi citizens, subjecting them to imprisonment and execution, and stealing their money.
Games Done Quick issued a statement saying that it had cancelled the broadcast of the Saudi advertisement in response to requests from its audience and that it would no longer accept Saudi money at the expense of human rights.
