Every few weeks, the Alawjam Charity Society in Qatif issues appeals to help house impoverished families who either lack accommodation altogether or are at risk of losing their homes because they can no longer afford rent.
Documented cases indicate that many of those affected are widows and orphaned girls living in difficult circumstances in a town that hosts Qatif Gas Oil Separation Plant 2 (GOSP-2), a facility producing more than 200,000 barrels of oil per day. When combined with output from Qatif GOSP-1, located outside the town, total production reaches approximately 800,000 barrels per day.
In Ahsa, meanwhile, charitable organisations have issued urgent appeals for infant formula and other essential supplies after poverty affected a large number of families.
Among the appeals:
▪️ Alfudul Charity Society:
Reported 300 infants lacking milk formula and basic infant necessities.
▪️ Albattaliyah Charity Society:
Reported 15 infants lacking milk formula and basic infant necessities.
These towns and communities, despite being affected by poverty, are situated above some of the world’s largest oil and gas fields, including Jafurah, Ghawar and Khurais. Together, these fields produce millions of barrels of oil every day.
