Saudi authorities executed two detainees this morning from the city of Alawamiya in Qatif:

▪️ Ali Hassan Ali Alsubaiti.

▪️ Mustafa Ali Saleh Alsubaiti.

The charges were reportedly linked to their participation in local political and human rights activism in their area between 2011 and 2016.

The families of the two men were not notified or prepared in advance to receive news of the executions, learning of them instead through the media. They were also not granted the opportunity to write a will or exercise any of their rights, nor those of their families.

Escalation:

The executions come just days after another detainee from the same region was executed:

▪️ Saud Mohammed Alfaraj,

reportedly for similar reasons. Qatif is known for its prominent political and human rights activism across the Arabian Peninsula, largely due to the scale of targeting it has faced over several decades.
