The Philippine government has announced the evacuation of 34 of its nationals from Saudi Arabia after they were subjected to serious abuses and modern-day slavery by their Saudi sponsors.

Yesterday, Thursday, 11 Filipino workers were evacuated from Jeddah and 23 workers from Al Khobar.

Dozens of Filipino citizens, community activists and human rights activists welcomed the evacuated workers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, while the Philippine government provided them with the necessary healthcare.
