American businessman Ben Harburg, owner of Saudi club Al Kholood, said in a recorded media interview that Saudi footballers often display a number of habits that negatively affect their professional development and performance.
According to Harburg, these include:
▪️ Failing to respect schedules, including arrival times at the club.
▪️ Staying up late.
▪️ Drinking coffee late at night.
▪️ Neglecting healthy nutrition.
▪️ A tendency towards laziness and prioritising entertainment during away trips and match travel.
▪️ Focusing more on financial bonuses than on personal and professional development as footballers.
Harburg also criticised the management of some Saudi clubs, arguing that they suffer from a range of administrative shortcomings, including:
▪️ A lack of a professional sporting culture.
▪️ Paying supporters to attend and cheer for their clubs, a practice he described as a form of corruption that undermines the long-term development of football clubs.
